Saturday 23 rd September at a sunny Portman Road in Ipswich, the home of Ipswich Town Football Club! My first match using my Orthomate to get me down to the ground! And Ipswich won 4 - 3! Having fractured my fifth metatarsal just under 2 weeks ago and currently only being able to heel walk the Orthomate is an absolute godsend!

This is me in my kitchen, loving the fact that I could actually move about again on my Stride On Scooter for the first time, after arriving home from hospital after major ankle surgery. I had been in hospital for a week after breaking my ankle in three places (Trimalleolar fracture). After hearing that I had to be none weight bearing for the next six weeks in plaster, I wasn't sure how I would possibly cope with everyday tasks such as making a drink or getting to the bathroom as I wasn't strong enough to use crutches at this point. My lovely sister Sarah did some research and found this amazing company hiring out knee scooters. She hired one out for me and it was delivered the very next day. I called it 'Buddy' as it really has been my best friend over the past 6 weeks. It has truly been a lifeline to me and has been with me to the shop, my friends garden, the hospital, my dads house and I've even taken it to the park to get some exercise.

I decided to decorate my knee walker for my Stepdaughters wedding on 10th June near Woburn. It received many 'beautiful' comments on the day. Apart from looking pretty the walker made getting around on the Big Day so much easier for me. Apart from joining in the dancing I was able to get around the venue easily and enjoy the celebrations.

I ruptured my Achilles tendon just before I was about to appear in the annual panto with my local village drama group as the Dame! It was too late to replace me so I went on stage with my knee walker. It made a big impact. The attached photo was taken on 25 February 2023 on stage at the Memorial Hall, Aston-on-Trent, Derby. I customised the walker with blue fairy lights, a horn and a bicycle bell. In this scene, I was on Treasure Island wearing my boat dress and island hat!!

Before my accident, I was in the middle of a mental health nursing degree and was very active in my spare time. I really love hiking and had recently started learning to skydive and climb. Unfortunately, in October, I had a skydiving accident and badly fractured my ankle and tibia. I was in the hospital for two weeks and had two surgeries including one to fit an external fixator on my lower leg. After spending a tough two weeks in the hospital, I was desperate to go outside and be in nature again. It was recommended that I get a wheelchair as I found using crutches very difficult because I was very unsteady and afraid that I would fall onto my frame and injure myself further. At home, I was having to use a walking frame to get around which was exhausting, and, because I had to use both of my hands to hold the frame, I was unable to get myself a drink or carry anything for myself which meant that I was almost entirely reliant on my partner. I didn't like using a wheelchair as my partner had to push me everywhere and it reminded me that I had lost my independence. My partner also found it difficult to push me and I felt quite guilty. I started searching online for alternatives to crutches and wheelchairs in the hope that there was another option that hadn't been discussed with me at the hospital. When I found out about knee scooters, I was suddenly full of hope as I knew that a mobility aid existed that would allow me to regain my independence.

I'm afraid my photo doesn't have the most exciting location or background but for me it shows the independence afforded to me by my StrideOn Knee Scooter. Also, as I live alone and don't have anyone to take my photos, this was the only location where I could get a full length shot. And, it was the only place downstairs where I could put my camera on the side, set the 10 second timer and then quickly scoot into position for the photo. It took quite a few attempts!

This is yet another example of how the marvellous Stride On 5 wheel scooter has kept me, and therefore my family!, sane through a 12 week period following extensive Achilles tendon surgery. The photo is taken at dusk in front of the temporary Christmas ice rink at Battersea called Glide. Whilst everyone else could "glide" on their ice skates, I had the wonderful feeling of freedom and independence able to "glide" safely around the flat pathways outside the rink and not miss out on the festive spirit. I even added mini bicycle lights so that people could see me coming! Thank you Stride -On for making the past 3 months almost fun as I navigate life with the aid of your amazingly manoeuvrable scooter; I quite simply could not have managed all of this without you. A complete game-changer from the despair and panic I felt when first told I needed to be fully non weight-bearing for so long.

Here you can see me using the Brilliant Stride-on! It has kept me mobile and kept me sane as my foot has begun to heal over the last 7 weeks (6 more to go!) As you can see, in the kitchen my Stride-On lets me stand comfortably and safely and use both hands to make a coffee and cook. I can negotiate the step out into the garden where the nifty Stride-On basket allows me to take my book, a cup of tea (in a sealed carry-cup) and even secateurs and string for a quick gardening session. Last but not least, our three cats adore Stride-On because they know that with it they are guaranteed their daily brushing! I tripped over a rake and suffered a complex Lissfranc fracture to my left foot which has been repaired using screws and a metal plate.

When I broke my foot I thought I would be stuck on the couch for the next 6 weeks, but with the Stride On Knee Scooter I was able to keep my plans. With a bit of practice around my house and learning to use public transportation- as I've always been a car person- I have been able to not only keep my plans but have amazing adventures. I live in Salisbury, Wiltshire and with the aid of my knee scooter I was able to travel to London and Paris! It helped me keep my foot off the ground, no weight-bearing at all. The scooter is fun too- can move quickly especially down hill. Luckily it has a well made hand break so I am always in control. I met lots of people who had never seen one. I was more than happy to tell them all about it, give them a card and answer all their questions- some people even took photos. This photo is of me at Kings Cross where I lived out a dream as a massive Harry Potter fan at Platform 9 3/4. I'm also a mother of two daughters, 3 and 7, so getting around and helping them has been a must. I'm so grateful to the company for being so easy to hire from and communicate with as I needed to add 2 weeks to my original booking. Thank you much! I sure hope I win!

We decided to go for celebratory tea and cake but I declined the car in favour of my knee walker - it can even conquer the steepness of Park Street in Bristol, which would be impossible on crutches!

This picture was taken of me on my Strideon at a local restaurant/pub for my birthday celebrations with my family on 27 August 2022. I broke my ankle in July by falling down the stairs - what a silly thing to do - and the injury was no weight bearing for 6 whole weeks! The hospital gave me a walking frame and crutches, neither of which I found very easy or wobble-free (in fact the walking frame left blisters on my hands), so I have become very attached to my Strideon and can whizz around the house with ease and speed feeling completely secure. It also fits nicely into the car so has opened up my life for the last 6 weeks - I cannot praise the Strideon enough - it is also a talking point every time I go out somewhere with it with people and kids asking for a "quick go" on it. So funny. The bit in front of my knee fits my handbag into it perfectly too - as you can see from this photo - plus the cup holder holds a glass of wine (I will send a picture of that separately), so what more can a girl from Essex want - it is truly a multi-tasking scooter! Love it.

Your machines have been absolute lifesavers, without them my wife would have been reduced to using a wheel chair with me pushing or a walking frame for in the house.
